NYE Outfit Ideas

Merry Christmas!
(I've brought posting this forward a little, I'm terrified items will start going out of stock before it went live.)
I love outfit planning just as much as the next style obsessive and new years eve is one of the best nights to plan for, mostly because excessive glitter is acceptable even if you're staying in. I've put together a few outfit ideas, from a fancy smart casual to some killer NYE out-outfits.
I used polypore to put the outfits together, for actual product details they're all listed here & here. Below I've listed hughstreet alternatives that are much easier to get your hands on.
outfit one:
jacket- Mango
skirt- Missguided
boots- (alternative, Zara, Asos)

outfit five:

outfit six:

Hope this helped if you're a little stuck on what to wear,

What's In My Bag

I am a collective hoarder of (what I would call) 'nice stuff', most of this stuff accumulates in my everyday bag. Like a lot of style lovers I do like most of this 'stuff' to be coherent (note the pink tones throughout!). The bag i'm using most at the moment is this faux leather Misguided bucket bag. It's a fab size, fits all the bits above and even my big SLR camera, when I'm off out to shoot blog photos.

1. Is my Whistles purse. I don't usually carry cash or change on me so this is a great size for my cards & train tickets.
2. Compact mirror, mine is from Chanel and was a gift I've had for about 4 years now, does the job and still looks cute.
3. My organiser keeps me from falling apart. I am always writing to-do lists and organising my uni work and emails, it's all kept in here.
4. Frends headphones, are a necessity. I commute to London from Winchester about 3/4 times a week during term time so I spend a huge amount of time on trains, tubes and walking to different sites.

5. I only recently picked up this Pearlessence oil but I use it all the time. I mix in it with my foundation, I use it on my hair and as a body oil. I'm not too keen on the Rosehip scent I have, but the product itself is great and I take it everywhere.
6. Pink/nude nail varnish from H&M, the shade is called 'Milky Tea'. I'm actually wearing it in the 3rd photo!
7. My hand cream from Aesop, has an amazing citrus smell and I love the packaging.
8. I switch between different lipsticks all the time but currently using my ABH liquid lipstick in 'Dolce'.

9. I am never without a watch, my all time favourite is this black face & rose gold from Kapten & Son.
10. Sunglasses. During the winter I tend to only wear big chunky frames, this Celine-esq pair is from Zero UV.
11. I always carry business cards from cute cafes, important info and brands. If I ever need some inspo of where to shop or eat, these really help!
12. What would I do without my portable charger, this one looks fab and does the job.

(I've also noticed I forgot to include my phone in half these shots because I was using it!! Send help).
I've tried to link what I can still find online, hope you enjoyed this look into what I carry round with me!

Happy Tuesday!

3 Easy Winter Cocktails

So today marks the official 12 day count down to Christmas and whilst I’m still to start shopping for presents I have put together a few Christmassy cocktail ideas I hope you love!

They’re all gin based, I used Bombay. They’re also really easy to make, I had all these ingredients in my kitchen cupboards!

Spiced Pear Fizz
Ingredients:
Double shot of Gin
40ml of fresh lemon juice
30ml of pear sugar syrup (see ingredients below)
200ml of soda water1 large egg white
2 star anise to garnish

200ml of water
200g of sugar
1 pear
2 star anise

Directions:To make the sugar syrup mix the water, sugar, pear (cored and cut into cubes) and star anise in a pan and bring to simmer on a medium heat. Take off heat and leave to cool. Once cool strain out the spices and pear.Add the gin, lemon juice, pear sugar syrup and egg whites into a cocktail shaker and shake for 20 seconds or so and strain into a glass. Top with soda water and garnish with star anise.

Hot Winter Gin
Ingredients:
Double shot of Gin
1 table spoon of honey
30ml of fresh lemon juice
2 cloves
1 cinnamon stick
Orange or lemon to garnish

Directions:Add the gin, honey and lemon juice to a glass. Top with hot water and stir until the honey is melted. Pop in your cinnamon stick and cloves, and orange to garnish.

Mulled Apple & Orange
Ingredients:
Double shot of Gin
100ml of orange juice
100ml of apple juice
2 cloves
Pear & orange to garnish

Directions:Heat the orange and apple juice in a pan with the cloves on a medium-low heat.Pour gin into a glass and add the juices and store together. Garnish with orange and pear slice.

Bet you didn't think these drinks would be so simple, they’re fab for Christmas gatherings. I am by no means a gin connoisseur BUT I do love a good cocktail. If I can manage to make these 3 cocktails all without any stress they must be fool proof!

Long time no post! I am finished with uni for Christmas and finally have the time to get back into blogging again (woohoo!). I've put together a little wish list post of some fabulous pieces I'm lusting after. I feel like a lot of my wardrobe staples have been well loved and desperately need an upgrade, like this cross body Zara bag- how cute! (plus the front is detachable). Also have a thing for pink tones recently, the crushed velvet set is such a dream!

I've got lots of new posts coming soon so make sure you're up to date by following me on Bloglovin!

Pinstripe OOTD

Utterly in love with this blazer, it fits beautifully! I sized up (10/12) so I could wear jumpers underneath. I paired it with my trusty tailored trousers and really liking the suit vibes from them together. Also desperate to talk about these faux pony skin leopard print mules, I have so many neutral & simple outfits these really add something extra too.

I spend a lot of time in Southampton where my boyfriend lives and tend to shoot most of my outfit photos at the weekend if I can find the time. I am seriously struggling for locations there! If you know of any beautiful spots I'd LOVE to hear them!

Happy Sunday,
Olivia xx

Khaki Velvet OOTD

I took these new boots from EGO out for a spin today, the khaki and velvet make them feel so autumnal! Bet you never thought you'd see my wearing a green pair of boots (me either, I'm such a colour-phobe) but there's something about them that I LOVE. I've paired them with some of my favourite black staples, they definitely smarted up an outfit I'd probably just throw on trainers with.

Just a quick post today, I'm off to carve some pumpkins! I have made no halloween plans other than making pumpkin soup haha!
Happy Saturday, Olivia xx

Pink Duster OOTD

This coat has to be the most colourful thing I own now and I am in love with it. The colour is a really dusty muted pink with a soft touch (and fab wrist ties). I can pair it with all my much loved basics and it really makes an outfit.
Another amazing find are these boots. I have a pair I bought from Zara over a year ago now very similar and I have always had so many people ask about them, I've worn them so much they're falling apart and really needed to get myself a replacement. When I saw these boots online I instantly loved them, they fit perfectly around the ankle, and for only £25(!!) a really great buy.

This outfit is all from Misspap (minus my Mansur Gavirel wanna be bag) and with code 'OLIVIAH10' everything I've linked below comes to just under £80! I've been a fan of theirs for a long time now and they're really great for on trend pieces!

Happy Sunday,

Statement Sleeve OOTD

I picked up this super fancy top from Topshop recently, I'm in love with the sleeves! The material is so slinky and soft, I'm all about minimal colours and statement shapes so this is right up my street.
I'm planning to be little bit more adventurous when I wear it next, I have a new culotte jumpsuit I think it could look fab layered under! For today I paired it with these tailored trousers, black boots and my trusty Misguided bucket bag.
I'm back in the swing of 3rd year now and currently living and breathing my new project I'm working on, I'm really enjoying it though! Hopefully I'll have some work to share with you soon!
Happy Saturday,

October Wishlist & Inspiration

I've finally accepted it's now 100% autumn, which on the plus side means all the pumpkin spice lattes I can afford. I'm already noticing I'm drawn to all the chunky knits. I've done a fair bit of shopping recently but here's a few bits I'm still after! (also wouldn't they make a fab outfit all together too?!). They're mostly staple wardrobe items, I can see myself wearing an outfit like this next autumn and it still being 'on trend', which is the beauty of neutral colours and classic shapes!

I use Pinterest as my main source of inspiration for my wardrobe. Maybe because of the nature of pattern cutting I look for shape before anything, then fabric followed by clever details. I've really found my love for velvet this season, although it comes around every year it has never been me. Who'd of thought it now I have 2 pairs of velvet shoes, in the words of Bieber- 'never say never' hey!

Happy Monday,
Olivia xx

Jumper Dress OOTD

Long time no post! I've done a little shopping recently and excited to share some autumn ideas with you! This season I'm loving a good jumper dress at the moment, it was terrible weather today but I didn't feel the cold one bit with this dress! I'm also obsessing over this Mango bag, I love the simple tie detail on the front. Plus it can be used with the chain tucked as a clutch (justified that as two bags for the price of one)!

Cote d'Azur, Day 3: CANNES

For our third day on the French Riviera my boyfriend was keen to top up his tan and and do a bit more relaxing (up until this point I was trying to fit 21393423 activities into each day). I knew I wanted to explore Cannes at some point so we packed our beach stuff and headed for the beach.

From memory the train cost €28 euro return for the two of us and took about 20mins from Nice (where our apartment was). As soon as we got off the train we walked for less than 10mins past shops and market stalls to the beach (it was sand not pebbles this time!). It was relatively busy, but a lot less than along Nice promenade.

After a couple of hours we set off from the beach to find some lunch, along the promenade is filled with luxury designer stores and some very stylish looking bars and restaurants (also the most expensive I'd seen so far). We struggled to find somewhere that we could really stuff our faces so headed away from the coast (only just the street behind the shops) and instantly found more casual places to eat. We sat at a family run pizzeria, pizza and drinks each came to just under €40. We spent the rest of our time in Cannes back on the beach and exploring the shops, very relaxing and not too hectic this time!

For dinner I wore this Misspap jumpsuit, and nude courts. It's lovely and lightweight so it didn't feel uncomfortable to wear in the warm weather! We ate at Rina (a restaurant and oyster bar) in the old town. Although we were charged €8 for a bottle of water (!!), I had the most amazing goats cheese salad and my boyfriend said he his muscles were amazing!

Stay tuned for my last post of the holiday!
