Having a good basis of wardrobe staples that you can rely on is essential for nailing your styling. At nearly 25 I feel like I really know my own style and what works for me.
I pretty much only wear neutral colours. This makes my life a lot easier when it comes to creating a solid base of wardrobe staples each season. I say each season but to be honest these are staples I would wear from spring right through to Autumn. It would just depend on the weather!
One thing I’m not when it comes to clothing is a brand snob. I’ll shop anywhere and everywhere as long as I like the pieces and they feel nice quality. Sustainability is a hot topic right now, and rightly so. I’m a big believer that regardless of if an item is highstreet or high end- price does not dictate quality. It’s up to you to decide if you know you’ll get your wear out of a piece and does it feel like a fabric that last in your wardrobe- and the wash!
Don’t forget, if you want to buy a dress for just one night out or a festival outfit you know isn’t practical for the rest of the year.. just buy it second hand! Depop and Ebay are fantastic places to purchase pre loved pieces. I personally buy and sell on both of these sites as well as local charity shops.
Being vegan people presume you live holier than thou in all aspects of your life, which of course isn’t the case. I’m very privileged to be able to have the choice and accessibility to go vegan, and to be able to make sustainable changes to my lifestyle. But I’m obviously not perfect (don’t tell my boyfriend I’ve said that), I’ve made a lot of lifestyle changes in the past few months but it’s next to impossible for anyone to live a 100% cruelty free vegan sustainable lifestyle, so don’t beat yourself up about it. I’m very much about making changes to your lifestyle if and where possible. What might be easy for you isn’t going to be for others.
Mindful shopping is something I’ve been practising recently. Putting together lists and mood boards like this really help my visualise what it is I’m actually wanting to wear and will it work in my wardrobe!
Anyway those are my mid week thoughts for today,
I’m always learning so for now this is where I’m at.
